My Hero

Ever since I was a child, there have been many people that I look up to. As I look back, I even remember looking up to police officers for always "catching the bad guys." The biggest hero that I have today would have to be one of my advisers, a police officer. He is someone that really anyone could look up to. He taught me many aspects of law enforcement and opened my eyes to many different things. He really takes his job to heart and actually enjoys giving out to the community. Whether it's holding events to inform the public about safety, to creating programs that prevent crimes, he's always there and does what he needs to do because he wants to. I look up to this because I think that it's important that people give out to their community, and I hope that one day I can make a good impact on my community the way he does.

This compares to the texts we've watched such as "Real Life Superheros" because he is an ordinary person that chose his career so that he could give out to the world. It was his decision to do what he does. It compares to the people in the movie who put their life on the line to help others. But this is a different kind of hero than those mention in the article "The Psychology of Heroism" because those kind of heroes acted on impulse, while my hero is a long term kind of hero. Though there are many heroes out there, my hero makes a big impact on my life.

  4. It's nice how you find every day ordinary people to be heroes. It shows that you don't have to be well known to be a hero to somebody.
